EVM has always been full of controversy while the Election Commission always said that EVM can’t be hacked. Recently, in the India General Election 2024 used EVM for voting while the opposition stood against EVM Service in India. ECI (Election Commission Of India) said, that the EVM Machine neither comes with any OTP service nor connects to any other device, so there is no chance the hacking EVM.

Recently, the Owner of X (formally Twitter) twisted a big suspicion about EVM. Indirectly they stated that EVM Can be hacked. Due to this, the Indian opposition party made this hot topic while EIC was still on its Statement that “EVM can’t be hacked”

Elon Musk expressed concern about EVM

Elon Musk tweeted a concern in response to a post by Robert F Kennedy Jr., nephew of former US President John F Kennedy and independent candidate for the next US elections. In this response, they said, “We should eliminate electronic voting machines. The risk of being hacked by humans or AI, while small, is still too high.”.

The latest technology and AI are far more dangerous than we think but till now, there is no proof that EVM can be hacked even though there is no report in response to hacking EVM.

Samajwadi Party chief and Congress ally Akhilesh Yadav also responded to Elon Musk’s tweet and said “‘Technology’ is meant to solve problems, if it becomes the reason for problems, then its use should be stopped. Today, when there are apprehensions about EVM tampering in many elections of the world and world-renowned technology experts are openly writing about the danger of EVM tampering, then what is the reason behind the insistence on using EVM, BJP should clarify this. We again reiterate our demand to conduct all the upcoming elections using ballot papers. (English Translated)”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said “EVMs in India are a ‘black box’ and no one is allowed to examine them. Sharing Musk’s post and a news report on the election of Ravindra Waikar, he said, “Serious concerns are being raised about the transparency of our electoral process. When institutions lack accountability, democracy becomes a sham and is prone to fraud. (English Translated”.

So we can’t assume that a single tweet brings back the largest concern on EVM. However, till now no such report has come in which anyone can say that EVM has been hacked even though no proof has been found yet against EVM Machine.
