Nothing Phone 2a Plus launched in India on 31st July 2024 as an upgraded model of the regular Nothing Phone 2a Mobile. This phone becomes a beast because it comes in a mid-range budget category with the powerful Dimensity 7350 Pro (4 nm) chipset features 3.0GHz max clock speed clusters in the CPU.
Also, it has a dual 50 Mp camera on the rear side that allows 4K recording, another 50 Mp camera on the front side for selfies and that also supports 4K recording.
Additionally, it has so many upgraded features as we compared it with the regular Nothing Phone but its price also differs. The Nothing Phone 2a price starts at Rs 23,999 and if you buy it on offer, then you will get more discounts but the Nothing Phone 2a Plus price starts at Rs 27,999 which is a slightly big difference.
However, we have here an in-depth analysis of the Nothing Phone 2a Pros and Cons with an overview.
The Nothing Phone 2a Plus has the ideal dimensions of 161.7 x 76.3 x 8.5 mm and weighs 190g which is lightweight. The phone houses a 6.7-inch, FHD+, 120Hz AMOLED Display that supports 700 nits (typ), 1100 nits (HBM), and up to 1300 nits (peak) brightness.
Also, it has the support of HDR10+ protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Nothing added one more interesting thing in the home is AOD (Always On Display) which is seriously essential for the Users.
Looking for the software and performance, the phone is running on Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.6. The Nothing Phone 2a Plus powers the Mediatek Dimensity 7350 Pro (4 nm) chipset with a dual cluster and octa-core CPU.
The clusters are respectively 2xGHz Cortex-A715 @3.0GHZ and 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A510@2.0GHz. Additionally, it has the support of Mali-G610 MC4 GPU which produces smoother graphics during gaming or graphics purpose works.
The company promised to provide the 3 years of Android and 4 Years of Security Patch Update which is a seriously a great decision as Samsung took this decision in the Past.
The camera has a dual 50-megapixel camera setup on the rear side, including a 24mm wide lens that supports OIS and another 114˚ Ultrawide lens. Apart from that company has placed another 50Mp shooter on the front side also. Interestingly both camera (Rear and Front) setup supports 4K video recording at 30FPS.
For the memory options, it has launched two memory variants— 8GB RAM/256GB Storage and 12GB RAM/256GB Storage which is enough for daily tasks and storage, unfortunately in any case you can’t increase the storage because there is no external card supports given in the phone.
Moving to the battery, the phone boasts a 5000mAh battery along with 50W fast charging support, and a slightly upgraded charging of regular phone 2a which has the 45W adapter.
This phone has all the necessary sensors like Wifi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS, 360-degree NFC, Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Compass, under-display fingerprint scanner, etc.
Remember to consider the pros and cons when buying a phone. They help you understand the phone’s advantages, disadvantages, and what it offers. This information is essential for making an informed decision before purchasing a new device.
- Good Display: The Nothing Phone 2a Plus display is taken from the regular Nothing Phone 2a. Also this time, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus has a 6.7-inch, HDR10+, 120hz AMOLED Display. There is no innovation in the display.
- IP54 Resistance: The Phone 2a Plus has the support of IP54 Rating Protection, which means this phone can be safe during normal water droplets and dust, but it cannot be safe when it is submerged underwater.
- Latest Software: The Nothing Phone 2a Plus is running on the latest Android 14-based Nothing Os 2.6 and promised to provide 3 major software updates which is a great step taken by the company.
- New & Enhanced Machine: The Nothing Phone 2a Plus houses an octa-core, MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro chipset with a max clock speed of 3.0 GHz. For better graphics processing, it also has a Mali-G610 MC4 GPU which is a new machine system.
- Enhanced Video Recording: As you know, the Phone 2a Plus comes with a dual 50Mp camera on the rear side and a single 50Mp shooter on the front side. Interestingly both of the camera setup supports the 4K video recording at 30FPS. The The Nothing Phone (1) and Phone(2) both do not support the 4K video recording from the front camera setup, but the Phone (2a) Plus supports both(Rear and Front) which is a huge advantage.
- 360-degree NFC: One of the exciting features is, that it has 360-degree NFC Support which is too exciting. When you compare it with the other brands and flagship phones, no one is around this phone.
- Extended Battery and Charging: The Phone 2a Plus has an extended battery and better wired charging capabilities than the Nothing Phone 2 and Phone 2a. The Nothing Phone 2a has a 5000mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging, and Nothing Phone(2) has a 4700mAh battery that supports only 45W charging but, the Phone 2a plus has an extended 5000mAh battery and a 50W wired charging support that is extremely enhanced than the Phone(2).
These are the few unmatchable features of the Nothing Phone 2a Plus as we compare it with the other phones from the brand.
- Should support IP68 Rating: The Phone comes with an IP54 rating that can protect phone from the waterdrops and light dust only Apart from that the IP68 Rating protection allows you to dip your phone into the water without harming any component of the phone. So seriously we missing it in the Phone 2a Plus.
- 120Hz RR is boring: The Phone comes with a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED Display. The 120Hz display is now common and most of the phone in this range comes with the same refresh rate. We eagerly waited for the 144Hz but it launched with 120Hz. We are thinking of the 144hz Display as Motorola introduced it even in a Curved display.
- No External Card Support: The Nothing Phone 2a Plus comes with the inbuilt up to 12GB RAM and maximum of 256GB Storage only and unfortunately it does not support external card support so you can’t increase the internal memory of the phone.
- No 60FPS Recording from the front camera: For the hot gossip on the internet, Nothing has integrated the 4K video recording even from the front camera but forgotten the 60FPS video recording features. Most content creators make videos from the front camera, so the company should provide 60FPS video features from the front camera, instead, It would have been better if you didn’t give 4K video recording on the front camera.
- No OIS Support on the front camera: As we said, most of the content creators make face cam video from the front camera, so it is unfortunate that, even in the Plus model, nothing has provided OIS Support for better video stabilities.
- Missing 3.5mm Jack: The Nothing Phone 2a Plus has not added the 3.5mm audio jack support as they did in the past with all the phones.
- USB Type-C V2.0: The Phone comes with the support of the USB Type-c 2.0 model which is a standard and old monkey, in the plus model we expected.
- No wireless charging: No phones in this series support Wireless or Reverse Charging support. We expected whether the Plus model could support the Wireless charging support but we were wrong.
These are the few key disadvantages/cons of the Nothing Phone 2a Plus phone. These kinds of features are available in many phones however few features that is included in the phone, which mostly can’t be found on other brands phone like Light effects, Clean UI, 4K recording from the front, etc.
Does Nothing Phone 2a Plus Support 144Hz Refresh Rate?
Unfortunately, the Nothing Phone 2a does not support the 144Hz refresh rate. The Phone comes with a 120Hz, 6.7 inch AMOLED Display but it does not mean that the display is not good, the display is seriously one of the best, but it would be better if it had a 144Hz refresh rate display.
The Nothing Phone 2a Plus has done great optimizations and comes with a few new systems. However, few components are as it is from the Nothing Phone 2a models like Display.
The exciting and better thing is that Both of the camera setups support 4K video recording at 30FPS. However, these kinds of features can be found in other brands too but few things you have to selfies of. And one more thing is, apart from these best specifications, it has an extremely enhanced gaming performance.
So anyone wants to buy a Nothing Phone but also wants a competitive level of gaming, then you should go with the Nothing Phone 2a Plus.
